To get the rate, just write a fraction with the number of points on top and the number of games on bottom. Be sure to include the units you are comparing (points and games) in appropriate places in the fraction as well.
The answer will look like this:
[Number] points
---------------------
[Number] games
To get the "unit" rate, carry out the division and express the fraction as a decimal. This will give you the number of points the man scores in each game on average, so next to it you will put "points per game" (the "rate unit").
The answer will look like this:
[Number] points per game
The word "per" can be thought of as a word for division. So "points per game" means points/games. Whenever you're working one of these of problems, the rate unit will be "[unit from top of fraction] per [unit from bottom of fraction]".
