The aspect ratio (length to width) of an LCD computer monitor is 5 : 4.

The aspect ratio (length to width) of an LCD
computer monitor is 5 : 4. The LCD monitor of
a Toshiba laptop computer has a perimeter of
32.4 inches. What is the diagonal measure of
the screen. Round your answer to the nearest
thousandth of an inch?

David W.

First, since this is an algebra problem, be sure to not confuse LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor with LCD (Lowest Common Denominator).

NOTE:  "The aspect ratio of an image describes the proportional relationship between its width and its height. It is commonly expressed as two numbers separated by a colon, as in 16:9. For an x:y aspect ratio, no matter how big or small the image is, if the width is divided into x units of equal length and the height is measured using this same length unit, the height will be measured to be y units."   -- Wikipedia

Additional note:  If the perimeter is given with an accuracy (how close a measured value is to the actual (true) value) of 1/10th of an inch, it is clearly not possible to express the diagonal to the "nearest thousandth of an inch."
