If AB = 10, CD = 10. The perpendicular CF would be the leg of a right triangle for which CD is the hypotenuse. As the hypotenuse, CD measure must be greater than either leg of the right triangle. CF = 12 is a contradiction to the conditions of the right triangle CFD.
