In this case, like your's let's solve for B Step 1: (multiply the numerator of one fraction to the denominator of the other fraction on the other side of the equal sign)...so B x C Step 2: do the same for the other two values A x C Hint: write it out like A over B equals C over D, then you'll see the numerators and the denominators Step 3: Rewrite the equation B x C = A x D Step 4: we want to solve for B...so what we want to do is do some type of math operation(add, subtract, multiply, divide)...so that we move all the values on one side of the equal sign and leave the variable we are solving for by itself on the other side of the equal sign. In this case we want the B all by itself, so we divide by C, on one side and on the other side as well rewritten: [(B)(C))]/(C) = [(A)(D)]/(C) Step 5: the (C) on one side of the equal sign cancels because of the like-terms property(Property of One)...if you don't know what that is...make sure you find out...its the reason we can cancel...if you can't find out...let me know and I'll help you) rewriting the equation after cancelling (B) = (A)(D)/ (C) or B = AD/C That will give you your answer, prove it to yourself with other problems, the more you do the less difficult these kinds of problems will be. First let's get x out of the denominator by multiplying each side by x.  

(2x+1/x)*x=(3/2)*x  ---> 2x+1=3x/2

2x+1=3x/2  Next, we can make all of the terms whole by multiplying each side by 2.  This way, we won't have to deal with fractions.

(2x+1)*2=(3x/2)*2 ---> 4x+2=3x

4x+2=3x   Now we can solve for x.

4x-3x+2=0 ---> x+2=0  ---> x=-2

The solution is x=-2
