You know the distance traveled is the same for both ways.
x = 30m/h * H1 (H1 is the time going out)
x = 35m/h * H2 (H2 is the time coming back)
Since the distance is the same, 30 * H1 = 35 * H2
Also, we know the total time is 3.25
hours (15 minutes being .25 hours)
H1 + H2 = 3.25
Solve for H1: H1 = 3.25 - H2
Plug this into the first equation: 30 * (3.25 -H2) = 35 * H2
Solve for H2: H2 = 1.5 therefore H1 = 1.75
30 * 1.75 = 52.5 35 * 1.5 = 52.5
Total distance = 105 miles
