(Hajimemashite!) My name is Max and I've been an online Japanese tutor for over a year and am currently a Japanese instructor at Marshall University, which is where I've been the past two years. Having been learning Japanese for over fifteen years, including three years of teaching English in Japan in both Nagano and Fukuoka Prefectures, I'm almost completely self taught and am currently learning more languages (Korean) to keep up with all of the trends in language learning so that I can share them with you!
My teaching methodology uses a Textbook, such as "Genki" as the base and teaches that content using both the book and authentic Japanese resources, created by Japanese native speakers, FOR Japanese native speakers. I believe that, and have seen from my teaching experience, that teaching students using authentic sources from the beginning helps bridge the all too familiar gaps language learners face as they move from studying textbook language to authentic materials not specifically designed for learners. We will be covering all aspects of the language, so reading, speaking, and writing, so I will be requiring you to get a small, handheld dry erase board and marker for the purpose of practicing writing the Kanji characters.
The amount of information available online about how to learn languages, especially Japanese, can be completely overwhelming. I am here to guide you through exactly what you need to do in order to achieve whatever your Japanese goals are, whether it be speaking, reading, writing, JLPT preparation, business Japanese, or just enjoying Japanese content online. I'll introduce you to a system that will allow you to incorporate Japanese study into your current daily routine. Language learning is all about tiny habits that you can perform consistently, and that is what will allow you to make continual progress.
