Patient but pushes you
Yan is very good at being patient and explaining pronunciation, context, and social customs while also keeping an aggressive learning schedule to keep you from slacking. Would recommend to anyone that wants to learn Chinese after working hours.

Excellent preparation, teaching and follow-up
My 13-year old son has been taking lessons from Yan for almost a year now. Due to moves and Covid, Yan is our 5th Mandarin tutor in 7 years and she is definitely the best one by far. She is prepared for every lesson, she covers a lot of ground during each session, and she always sends a recording and follow-up messages when they are finished. My son really enjoys learning from her and I appreciate how much his Mandarin has improved since working with Yan. My son and I highly recommend her!
