I started tutoring philosophy, logic, and mathematics as an undergraduate. I then went on to study philosophy and cognitive science as a Ph.D. student at UC Santa Barbara where I spent several years as a teaching assistant and RMP research mentor. In sum, I have eight years of experience studying philosophy and five years of teaching experience. Additionally, I have also spent several years as a freelance editor and writer. Clear, kind, and productive!
I felt much more confident on how to approach my essay, being given great guidance on ways to structure and elaborate my arguments. I'm grateful for the supportive and genuine interest in the assignment I needed help on!

Stephen is brilliant and introspective.
Stephen is absolutely the best and most knowledgeable philosophy instructor ever. We've discussed evolutionary psychology and how it relates to various aspects of philosophy, as well as religious anthropology and the relationship between personal values and philosophical mores. I'm so fortunate to be able to learn from him. Thank you, Stephen!

great teacher
It was great taking the section with the instructor and everything went well. The instructor proofread my essay paper and pointed out a few errors that I had, that needed to be fixed.

Best Tudor Ever! Makes Very Obscure Topics Easily Digestible
Stephen is the best possible tutor I could have ever come across. I was stuck understanding a very niche topic in philosophy that was an intermingling of philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and language. Mind he is only a graduate student, but he made the material much more digestible and understandable than my philosophy professor who did her desertion on the topic. Through all my college career I have only experienced one or two professors who can help/teach as effective and efficiently as he has. Any student in his future classes will be extremely lucky to spend full semesters with him leading them through complex topics. The same goes for any of you who choose him as your guide through philosophy, or any other topic for that matter. I will not be going to anyone else for any of my philosophy needs. My philosophy career is not even close to over and would be glad for this to be a long-standing relationship. Not to mention his prices are extremely reasonable. I have experience other tutors who graduated from internationally recognizable schools and more than double the price. None compare to Stephen. The most difficult take in philosophy is explaining complex topics in a digestible manner, which he has no issue with.
