I worked as a Residential Life Advisor at The Northwest School's international dormitory for 9 years, and was a substitute teacher there for 4 years. I worked with students from over 10 different countries, from grades 6 to 12. I did one-on-one tutoring with dorm students and would supervise study hall.
When working one-on-one with a student, my strength is in finding many different explanations from different angles, and helping students connect ideas back together into a holistic understanding of the underlying systems in whatever we may be studying. My time with language learning public speaking has also taught me that sometimes the only way to learn some things is practice, practice, practice!
