Hello! I’m Rochelle and I’d love to help you kickstart your next English paper or Creative Writing assignment. From my elementary years through the high school journey, I was always reading – in class (under my desk), or in bed (under the covers with a flashlight). However, I did put down my books to study the conventions upon which their foundation was based. Grammar and vocabulary skills came naturally to me, and I relished any opportunity I was given to write. Whether it was for an essay, book report, or poetry exercise, I found self-expression through writing deeply empowering. During my time at Bellevue College, I quickly rose to the top of my English classes. Upon excelling in the highest level course that I could take, I decided to spend a quarter at Bellevue College tutoring students in English. My students, coming in with varying skill levels and cultural backgrounds, reminded me of the reason I’d always thrived in creative fiction: I am passionate about people and the stories they carry with them. As a tutor, I discovered through professional feedback that my genuine, unreserved interest and caring for others was a unique strength. Where my peers were businesslike and indifferent, I was comfortably informal. For me, each kid was like a friend yet to be made, each study session a mission to help them believe in their potential as much as I did. Although it was a brief stint, my time as a tutor was regarded as a success by the hiring staff. I was offered an enthusiastic recommendation as well as an open invitation to return the following quarter. Instead, I went on to focus on developing my skills as a writer.
Since leaving school behind, I have operated blogs and entered manuscript contests. I have also gained much insight from attending writing groups. My proudest accomplishment, though, is the influence my endeavors have had on friends and family members with mental illnesses, social and learning disabilities.
