The help I received from the department tutors was crucial to my academic success, and I jumped at the first opportunity to join their ranks and help beginning learners in the same way that they helped me. Since graduating in 2011 I have mostly worked as a web developer, but I've never forgotten the confidence and clarity those tutors helped me find. Today, I want to ensure that anyone with an interest in programming gets the same support and sense of community.

I've been creating digital art with Adobe Photoshop since 2005. Over the years I have gained mastery of brush & smudge tool settings, layer modes, clipping masks, and more. I also have some familiarity with other Adobe products such as Illustrator. You can find examples of my work at www.artstation.com/kaehunter.

As a professional web developer with over 7 years of industry experience, I can teach you the latest techniques for writing clean, readable code, and creating web content that looks good on a wide range of devices. As a tutor, my goal is to pinpoint which concepts you struggle with the most, and to provide you with engaging, easy-to-understand explanations for those concepts.

I've been taking art commissions as a side job for the past 5 years or so; I don't have insight on how to build a full career in the art industry, but I can absolutely help improve your technique!

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2011. Since then, I've worked as a full-stack developer, applying the programming concepts I learned to meet real-world needs. I'm most proficient in JavaScript, Python, and PHP, but I also have some experience with C# and Java.

I've been using CSS in personal and professional projects since the days of CSS2, but I closely follow browser implementation of CSS3 and "level 4" specifications. I also have experience with both Sass and Less preprocessors. Ask me about flexbox! :)

I took drawing classes of some form or another from elementary school through college, and I've drawn as a hobby all my life; in recent years I've taken on art commissions and had work in gallery shows. I mostly do digital painting, but I also work in pencils and pen & ink.

HTML has been the basic building block of the web since the very beginning, and including school/personal projects, I've been using it since the '00s. From XHTML to modern semantic tags, I can help you understand what different elements and attributes do, and how they work together in a web page. I can also explain tips and best practices for writing clean, well-structured code!

JavaScript is my bread and butter as a developer; I've been using vanilla JavaScript and jQuery professionally since 2011, and in recent years I've been working more with NodeJS and React. There are a number of libraries and frameworks out there that I haven't had a chance to use yet (Handlebars, Angular, Vue, and D3 being the most asked-for currently), but I can definitely help you understand the fundamentals!

In my first several years working as a web developer, jQuery was *the* standard library for working with JavaScript, and I used it daily. Though systems like React & Vue have overtaken it in recent years, I still have a solid grasp on jQuery principles and syntax.

In my 10+ years as a web developer, I have built/modified both the front and back ends of my clients' sites. Many of my clients' sites are built on WordPress, and I've written both themes and plugins for Wordpress. At my first job, I spent about a year exclusively building sites with the CodeIgniter framework.

I've been a professional Web Developer since 2011, and I started using React in 2018. I've built plenty of MERN stack projects, and used Next.js a few times as well. I currently favor Vite for project setup, but I'm open to using other tools, and I can also show you how to attach React to your HTML manually.
