About Anne

I am a middle school teacher at St. George School in Beacon Hill. I teach 6th-8th grade Reading and English Language Arts, an Advanced Creative Writing Elective and the Middle School Newspaper. Though I love the hustle and bustle of my middle school classroom, working with individual students reenergizes me and shows me the variety of skills, strengths, and challenges that every learner brings to his or her academic journey.

I also enjoy the opportunity to work with older students, particularly since I taught AP English III and Honors World Literature during my college student-teaching internship. Coaching students through the SAT essay and AP English III papers is a rewarding challenge.

ESL/ESOL: I student-taught intermediate ESL students in a sheltered high school class. Many of these students later moved on to Honors classes alongside native speakers.
English: I am a recent graduate of Duke University's English and Education programs. I student-taught AP English and in particular, coached my students through AP Exam prep and the AP research paper.
SAT Reading and SAT Writing: I have worked with several students to improve their scores on the SAT Verbal section,

I'm looking forward to working with you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
