I have been tutoring young adults for the past ten years while teaching ESL overseas. I have found that dealing with individuals working for specific goals is rewarding because the students can feel a sense of accomplishment when they need a little help to find their own abilities. Working with individuals is very rewarding to both the student and the teacher so tutoring is as rewarding as working in a classroom situation. I feel that the students I tutor have a specific goal in min, and I am able to help them meet their aims and goals through guiding them. I am able to teach both basic grammar and practical skills. For example, if students need help in grammar or vocabulary development, I have the necessary knowledge to help him or her meet his or her goals. If a student needs the more practical skills such as reading for information, or writing a paper then I would be able to help him/her in that area because of my experience in teaching academic English.
The emphasis in my tutoring experience of the past ten years has been mainly twofold. The first is teaching skills necessary to meet standards on English proficiency exams--both oral and listening as well as reading and writing. The second is helping college students with developing research skills and helping them with their research projects. Over the years, I have found that it is the students wants and needs which push them to excel, and the goal of the instructor is to guide them with his/her expertise that has been acquired over the years of teaching and being involved in ESL.
In addition, to the experience working as an ESL teacher for forty years, I have a Licentiate Diploma in TESOL, Trinity College London. This has enabled me to understand the processes of learning a second language and improved my skills to teach these practical subjects. I have been using the skills I learned to help all my students. I have also been involved in curriculum development, assessment, and teacher training. These activities have helped me appreciate the needs and
Mr. Edward helped me in writing part, he explained with letters and essay writing. I just took one class, so basically he covered as much he can in the limited time. He explained me some strategies on writing essay and gave some good tips too. I enjoyed his class :) Thank you very much Sir.Nazia, 1 lesson with Edward
Great tutor, I like his approach and techniques
It was a great introductory session, and we learned a lot about each other. I need to take my time while proofing my work. Grammar needs to be studied, and he needs to see more of my work.Robert , 3 lessons with Edward
Very patient and professional tutor!
Edward worked with my mother Alice on her English pronunciation and practiced conversational English. He was patient and encouraging. We’ll be booking more lessons from him.Mona, 6 lessons with Edward
A diligent teacher
I called Edward in a panic because I am training for English as a second language and he was gracious enough to become one of my trainers. He took time out of his extremely busy schedule and took time to talk to me about the basics of grammar and most importantly to help prepare me for an interview that I had coming up the next day if it were not for him I don't know how effective I would have been in that interview. I will continue to work with him.Tara, 1 lesson with Edward

Mr. Edward has the knowledge and the skills of the IELTS
I must say that I am very lucky to spent my time with Mr. Edward, during my IELTS test preparation period. He is very knowledgeable about the course content, and has the experience of working with foreign students( those who study English as a second language) . For those who are planning to take IELTS test, I highly recommend you to take time and spend with him. Besides he is a very considerate and respectful person. Ayu GAyu, 19 lessons with Edward
Edward is the tutor with dedicated attitude!
Today Edward taught me the pronunciation on "V" and "W". He corrected my previous mispronunciation. Now I can grasp both. He assigned the homework and required me to go over the vocabulary and use recorder to record my reading these words. He will check what about my progress.Jiang, 8 lessons with Edward
