I am an experienced math and science instructor with over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Between 2010 and 2014, I worked as a teacher at the Yellow Wood Academy, a private high school that offers students a specialized one-on-one classroom environment. At YWA, I taught all high school science classes (including AP, Computer Programming, and Environmental Science) and all levels of high school math. In addition to my teaching and tutoring duties, I designed individualized lesson plans, curricula, homework assignments, and tests. In my spare time, I also enjoy running, trivia competitions, and word games.
I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Physics at the University of Washington where I use advanced mathematics on a daily basis. I have taught or tutored every middle school and high school math course up to and including Statistics and AP Calculus. I am naturally gifted at mathematics, having scored a perfect 800 on the Math section of the SAT and the GRE, but I believe in the power of directed study to improve grades and test scores quickly. It is my goal to prove that mathematics can function not only as a useful tool but also as a fascinating and worthwhile pursuit in itself.
At my former employer, I taught and tutored every science course offered including (but not limited to) AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, Environmental Science, and Computer Programming. I am possessed of a limitless desire to understand how the universe works and believe that science offers an unsurpassed set of tools for approaching nearly any problem. Having worked in the laboratory, I am familiar with how science works "in the wild", and I hope to pass on to my students not only the fundamentals of scientific problem solving but also appreciation for the scientific process and ways of thinking.

This was a great session! He was very helpful in understanding that basics of what chemistry is and the notes were very helpful to go back and study
Christopher determined my child's weaknesses and focused on building the necessary skills needed for the AP exam. When she asked follow-up questions, he answered her but also guided her back to issues that would be on the test. They got along well and I think she has more confidence going into the test. Highly recommended.
Christopher arrived punctually and jumped right in with my helping my son with his math homework. He obviously knows his stuff and can convey complex concepts and answer questions with ease. We feel very lucky to have found him. Highly recommend this bright and personable tutor!
Christopher was professional and certainly knew the material. He gave very thorough explanations and examples.
Christopher is a great math tutor! He was able to effectively explain overall math concepts, and well as help with specific questions I was stuck on. Highly recommend!
Christopher is an excellent math tutor. He recently helped my senior with Honors Calculus. We had a fabulous job and we will hire him again.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
