I am a native Chinese speaker and an open-minded, creative, and passionate person in teaching. I am a graduate student from Rutgers and my major is Master of Arts for teachers in Chinese. I took a lot of Chinese teaching courses last semester, such as Chinese grammar, Chinese Civilization topic, Second Language Acquisition, and Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching. I interned at Confucius Institute at NC State last semester and planned many lessons and cultural activities. I am going to participate in the STARTALK program, which is a component of the federal National Security Language Initiative (NSLI) and work with Lucy Lee and Dr. Mary Curran. I will also be the Mandarin instructor of a local academy's immersion program this summer. I am skillful at Chinese calligraphy, painting, and Tai-chi sport, which enables me to integrate Chinese culture elements into class activities. I encourage students to acquire Chinese through a meaningful and comprehensible communication environment.
In China, I had many Chinese tutoring experiences for students in various age levels. My professional goal is not only to help students to achieve academic excellence, but also to acquire culturally appropriate communication skills in order for them to be prepared for their future ahead.
To sum up, I am equipped sufficiently and very much willing to dedicate myself to this teaching profession.
