My PhD is in applied mathematics, and I have tutored and/or taught most all the math and physics courses typically offered to university undergraduates. I mostly tutor university and high school physics and calculus and above. I have taught some graduate level special topics courses in dynamical systems theory and geophysical fluid dynamics. Linear algebra has been in demand lately, especially since it's essential for hot fields like quantum computing.

I enjoy math and science very much, and I find breaking down complicated problems to a step-by-step approach to be very effective for my own learning as well as for tutoring.

I've been working with many "Running Start" students in the Puget Sound region, especially at University of Washington, Bellevue College, Edmonds College, and the UW Bothell. I also work with professionals and graduate students on topics of mutual interest.

FYI:
1) I am familiar with both the AP and IB programs.
2) I most always request the course syllabus to help me optimize the tutoring time.
3) Scheduling earlier is always better. Monday-Wednesday afternoons and evenings are the busiest times.
4) My top performing student are regular weekly to bi-weekly.

I have taught college algebra (University of Arizona) and tutored algebra for both high school and college students for many years. I have a doctorate in Applied Mathematics and algebra is a topic I enjoy teaching very much. This past spring (2014) I taught a physics course at The Evergreen State College which required a thorough working knowledge of both Algebra I and Algebra II (also geometry and trigonometry).

The basic concepts of trigonometry are constructed and derived from geometric principles, but once the student has gone through the formal definitions and constructs, trigonometry is then seen to fit into an enormous class of problems of both statics and dynamics. For scientists and engineers, a working knowledge of trigonometry is essential. With this in mind, I think a student new to learning trigonometry should be exposed to some typical applied problems, and not merely walk through the formalism from first principles.
