Having attended Lakeside School in Seattle, WA and graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College, I know what it takes to excel academically. I know that it takes determination and discipline. Having attended Lakeside School in Seattle, WA and graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College, I know what it takes to excel academically. I know that it takes determination and discipline. But it also requires a passion for learning and an understanding of the big picture. My students excel not because they obsess over every tiny detail of a physics problem or memorize every fact in their history textbook, but because I help them develop keen critical thinking skills, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic that enables them to find inspiration and follow their dreams to excellence.

I've tutored and taught students from elementary school through college in Seattle, New Hampshire, New York, and India, working with Learning Enterprises, America Reads, Children's Media Project, and many independent students. I not only tutor most high school subjects, but also assist with college counseling, essay writing, and test prep. If you're looking for an enthusiastic and responsible tutor with a holistic focus on academic achievement and empowering pedagogy, please feel free to contact me so we can have a conversation about you or your student's needs and opportunities.

I follow current events voraciously and often engage my students in critical discussion of contemporary and historical issues, especially relating to their interests or coursework. In addition to part time tutoring for select students, I am an independent technology, media, and education consultant and entrepreneur. I look forward to speaking with you or your student soon!

Approved Subjects

Macintosh

Macintosh

I have provided IT support for years and am the owner of my own company. I've worked for Dartmouth College Computing Services and the Technology department of a local school. And I've used a Mac for my personal and business work everyday for the past 8 years. I enjoy teaching others how to best utilize their Macs!
Regents

Regents

I have been tutoring in New York state for over two years and have prepared many high school students to take the Regents. As with any standardized test based on core knowledge requirements, preparing for the Regents requires a strong command of the content as well as practice in test taking strategies. All of my past students have passed their Regents tests and some use that preparation to score well on AP subject tests as well. In addition to my specific experience with Regents tutoring, I am also fully aware of Common Core curriculum standards which are included in New York state standardized testing preceding the Regents.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have helped numerous students prepare for the SAT and ACT standardized tests by focusing on the test content and key test-taking strategies. Many of my past students scored in the 98th and 99th percentile, helping them gain admission to top colleges and universities.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I worked as a tutor for the Academic Skills Center of Dartmouth College. I also graduated magna cum laude from that same institution. I've leveraged my study skills and teaching abilities to tutor numerous independent students in the New York area. In fact, I often focus more on organization, motivation, and study skills than subject-based memorization in my tutoring sessions because I find that transferable skills are more useful in the long run for my students.
