Hello!
My name is Meghann. I recently graduated with my Master's in Public Policy from Oregon State University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in writing. For the last six years, I have worked with the Oregon State University Center for Writing and Learning as both a Lead and Graduate Level Writing Assistant/Instructor. I help with any kind of writing (papers, test preparation, cover letters, resumes, theses, dissertations, technical writing, reports, creative writing, etc.) as well as all levels of English and writing (grade school, high school, personal statements, undergraduate, graduate, ESL, peer reviewed journal articles, grants, research proposals, IRB paperwork, etc.). Tutoring and having a Liberal Arts background has facilitated my ability to discuss topics eloquently and succinctly. Working with international students from countries such as Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Japan, and China as well as native English speakers of many levels, I have learned the importance of sensitivity and awareness. In working with non-native English speakers, I have developed several skills and techniques to aid in creating cohesive, clear documents while still maintaining the original message of the writer. I have worked on all types of projects from a variety of academic and professional fields – English, Public Policy, Engineering, Microbiology, Physics, Pharmacy, and Agricultural Sciences among them. My experiences have taught me to assess the subtle nuances of any document and to discuss and connect interdisciplinary themes. I have also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant the last two years, teaching an introductory level Political Science course (which included grading papers and coaching students on how to improve their technique and approach to the writing process).
I have also worked at the English Language and Culture Institute as an Instructor teaching Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking to ESL students of all levels (beginner through advanced). I have my TEFL certificate,
