I am a licensed Elementary Education teacher. I also have additional licensure in ELL, Special Education-Learning Disabilities, and ASD. I graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1991 from Hamline University and worked for 15 plus years in the field of adult mental health. Teaching is a second career for me which I have taught for 13 years now. I received my Elementary Ed license in 2009 and have since added licenses in the areas of ELL (English Language Learners) and Special Education Learning Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. I began my teaching career as a full-time ELL teacher at Cambridge Isanti schools working with K-12 students for two years and had substitute taught for four school districts K-12 (all subject areas) for 4 years while getting my teaching license. After teaching ELL for 2 years, I taught 2nd grade in Japan for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years with the Department of Defense. After returning stateside, I worked for 3 years with Minneapolis public schools in a special education classroom, working primarily with students with autism (6-8 grade). I have also worked part-time adult ESL for three years. I worked with Intermediate District 287, in which I have taught for 5 years in setting 4 special education classrooms with High school (9th-12th grades) and transition (18-21 years old) students, with special education needs in the areas of ASD, EBD, DCD and SLD. The last two years I have been working as a virtual special education teacher. I believe that my breadth of work experience provides me with the ability to work with all ages and types of learners. I feel I have a gift of empowering students to feel excited about their learning. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to share my experience and educational training as a tutor. Please contact me through this WyzAnt account if you are interested in a tutor. Thanks so much!
