I received my Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego, by furthering the understanding of how the sounds that make up the language you learn as a child affect the languages you learn later in life. I was interested in pursuing my doctorate after getting my bachelor's in Neuroscience from USC, where I participated in research work as an undergraduate.
While pursuing my graduate studies, I was a teaching assistant for numerous courses, winning the Excellence in Teaching award for Cognitive Science. I went on to teach college-level courses at San Diego State University, both in person and online. I have taught a range of class sizes, from mentoring single students up to 100+ person lectures, so I enjoy personalizing lessons as well as making information accessible and interesting to a large number of people at once.
As a teacher, my goal is to impart the enthusiasm I feel for the subject to my students, and use that excitement to catapult them into feeling confident and in control of the material. I love when a student has questions and making sure they are answered completely.
