Hello! I'm North, a current MS student in Statistics at the University of Washington. I also hold a BA in Economics from Macalester College (3.8 GPA). I didn’t just learn how to apply calculus and linear algebra to data in my academic work; my experience as a dyslexic student taught me that we all learn differently—a philosophy I have brought into my teaching.

In my tutoring, I focus on executive functioning, relatable material, and finding the right learning strategy for you. I have 2.5 years of professional tutoring experience, working one-on-one with students ranging from ages 13 to 20 in both online environments and physical tutoring centers. Additionally, for three years as an economics TA, I held office hours for individuals and small groups, wrote detailed answer keys, and helped students apply complex economic concepts to their assignments.

I concentrate on tutoring quantitative subjects, including statistics, algebra, trigonometry, and economics, with a primary focus on establishing foundational academic skills and breaking down complex material into understandable components.

I also specialize in SAT and GRE test preparation. I teach test prep by setting reasonable goals, designing structured study schedules, and clearly explaining test materials. I used the same targeted study methods to score a 770/800 on the SAT Math and achieve perfect 170/170 scores on both the Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning sections of the GRE.

I have successfully worked with a wide variety of neurodivergent and neurotypical students, and I look forward to providing you with the structured support necessary to reach your academic goals.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is the subject I have tutored most in my two+ years of one-on-one tutoring work. I have helped students identify and build key fundamental skills to solidify their understanding of complex topics. I am currently enrolled in an M.S. Statistics program at the University of Washington where Algebra is a fundamental building block of my work.
GRE

GRE

I got a 170 on the verbal and quantitative reasoning sections of the GRE when I was applying to my Grad school. I got there by diagnosing my weaknesses, identifying study strategies, and creating a long term study plan. Building up your core understanding of topics and practicing under time pressure are key to success on the GRE.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I graduated Magna Cum Laude in economics from Macalester College in St.Paul MN and am now perusing a M.S. in statistics at the University of Washington. I received a 770 on the math portion of the SAT. I have over five years of experience working one-on-one with college and high school students to improve their understanding of mathematical concepts.
Statistics

Statistics

I am a current M.S. statistics student at the University of Washington. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Macalester college with a B.A. in Economics and a Minor in Data Science. I have tutored AP statistics one-on-one for two years. I focus on helping students understand the fundamentals and concepts so they can understand new material. I have helped students catch up and excel in statistics. I would enjoy helping you too.
