Hello, I'm Erica, a recent PhD graduate in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. I've always loved teaching and mentoring students of all ages and backgrounds in a variety of fields. I've spent the last six years doing research in a lab, mostly focused on biochemistry/immunology/genomics. During that time, I taught multiple undergraduate courses as a teaching assistant (Biochemistry lab and Physical Biochemistry). I also mentored an undergraduate student in lab techniques for several years (she's now a medical student!).
I got my undergraduate degree in biochemistry (with a minor in French) from the University of Oregon. I've been studying French for a long time (I attended a French Immersion School from kindergarten through high school) and was heavily involved in French tutoring of all sorts -- from private tutor sessions to group office hours. I started doing French tutoring as a high school student, and I even created worksheets and activities from scratch. I was also an undergraduate biology lab assistant, essentially acting as a teaching assistant for the biology lab course, where I helped students and held office hours.
Lastly, I've had a lot of practice in writing and editing highly technical scientific manuscripts, and would be happy to help others improve their writing.
