Hi, I’m Elizabeth! I'm currently a senior in Computer Science at the University of Washington. Through my education, I found that the classes I excelled in the most weren’t the easiest courses, but the ones with the best instructors. To me, good teachers are passionate about helping their students. They adjust their teaching methods to meet unique needs and inspire students to examine the subject from different angles. With the right teacher, seemingly complicated topics can become simple and enjoyable.
As a tutor, I would love to learn about your goals and how you learn best. It’s also important for me to maintain an open line of communication with students and parents so I can incorporate feedback and suggestions. I try to explain concepts clearly using analogies and examples and incorporate interesting and relevant activities.
I spent a year tutoring pre-calculus one-on-one outside of Wyzant. Since my student was having trouble in her class, I reviewed the materials she sent me in detail to create lesson plans that aligned with her course and targeted the concepts she struggled with most. I used creative yet clear ways to explain concepts and provided ample extra practice.
Although I specialize in tutoring math and computer science topics from K-12 education, I am also comfortable with teaching other topics, such as SAT prep, K-12 English, or additional topics in CS. I use and practice concepts from math and CS every day in my classes, clubs, and personal projects.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
