I’m an incoming M.D. student at the University of Washington and a Pomona College graduate with a B.A. in Neuroscience (cum laude, 3.96 GPA). I tutor middle school, high school, and college students in math, science, test prep, and writing, and I especially enjoy working with students who are aiming for competitive STEM and pre-med pathways. My academic background includes advanced coursework and research in chemistry, biology, and neuroscience, and I’ve authored multiple peer-reviewed neuroscience publications, which lets me connect abstract concepts to real-world examples for my students.
I have over four years of formal teaching experience as a private tutor, a Teaching Assistant for Pomona College courses in neuroscience, genetics, and organic chemistry, a Quantitative Skills Center tutor, and a college readiness mentor with Upward Bound.
My approach is structured and strengths-based: I focus on breaking complex problems into manageable steps, modeling how to think through questions, and then gradually shifting the work to the student so they gain independence and confidence. I regularly incorporate study skills, test-taking strategies, and executive function support (planning, organization, time management, and test anxiety tools), and I have experience working with neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD and anxiety.
I try to make sessions collaborative and encouraging while still holding a high bar for understanding. As a former NCAA student-athlete and incoming med student, I understand what it means to balance academics, extracurriculars, and life, and I’m happy to offer guidance on course planning, college applications, and, when relevant, the recruitment process for high-academic colleges. My goal is always to meet students where they are, build a clear plan, and give them tools they can carry into every future class and exam.
