Greetings! My name is Whitney and I am a higher education professional with over six years of experience guiding students through the college preparation process. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with minors in Sociology and Comparative Ethnic Studies from Washington State University, and I am certified in CPR/First Aid and trained in teen abuse prevention through the YMCA.

My career has centered on helping students succeed academically and personally. As Scholarship Manager for a local community college, I oversee districtwide scholarship programs, lead culturally relevant workshops, and advise students on applications and financial aid. Previously, as Program Director for a college readiness program through the YMCA of Greater Seattle, I advised more than 60 high school juniors and seniors each year through college and scholarship applications, achieving a 100% college acceptance rate. I also coordinated enrichment activities, family engagement events, and college tours, including civil rights education trips.

I have worked with students from middle school through college age, in both 1:1 settings and group workshops. I focus on building confidence, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, and tailoring strategies to each student’s strengths. Whether it’s essay writing, scholarship applications, or preparing for college entrance exams, I emphasize clear communication, organization, and culturally responsive support.

Parents and students can expect me to bring not only technical expertise in college prep but also compassion, encouragement, and a proven track record of helping students reach their goals. My passion lies in opening doors to higher education and ensuring every student feels prepared and empowered to take the next step in their academic journey.

College Counseling

I have over six years of experience guiding students through the college preparation process, including scholarship applications, financial aid literacy, and admissions advising. As Scholarship Manager at Seattle Colleges Foundation and former Program Director of the YMCA’s Y-Scholars Program, I have supported hundreds of high school juniors and seniors in achieving college acceptance, with a proven record of success. My expertise includes leading culturally responsive workshops, one-on-one advising, and organizing college tours to help students explore opportunities. I am passionate about equity and student success, and I tailor my approach to meet each student’s unique needs and goals.
Cooking

Cooking

I have over 20 years of experience cooking at home and sharing my love of food with others. I have taught students during summer camps, guiding them through hands-on lessons that make cooking fun and approachable. My expertise includes creating quick and easy recipes, shopping on a budget, and preparing healthy meals that fit into busy lifestyles. I enjoy helping learners build confidence in the kitchen while developing practical skills they can use every day.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I have extensive experience coaching both teens and adults to feel confident and prepared for interviews. Over the past six years, I have guided students and professionals through mock interviews, helping them refine their answers, articulate their strengths, and present themselves effectively. My expertise comes not only from coaching but also from serving on over eight different interview selection committees, giving me firsthand insight into what interviewers look for. I focus on building self-awareness, practicing clear communication, and tailoring strategies so each student can succeed in academic, scholarship, or career interviews.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have extensive experience guiding students through the personal statement process from start to finish. I have helped more than 60 students with their essays, whether they just need an extra set of eyes to edit what they’ve already started or have no idea where to begin. I support students in brainstorming ideas, reviewing essay prompts, and developing clear outlines that reflect their individual goals and strengths. From there, I provide detailed feedback on drafts, assist with proofreading and revisions, and work with students until they have a final polished essay ready for submission. Many of my students have been admitted to schools such as the University of Washington, Seattle University, Western Washington University, Claremont McKenna College, University of Southern California, Howard University, George Washington University, Case Western Reserve University, Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, North Carolina A&T, and Louisiana State University. With over six years of experience supporting high school and college students, I am committed to helping each student present their authentic voice in their essays with confidence.
