Greetings! My name is Whitney and I am a higher education professional with over six years of experience guiding students through the college preparation process. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with minors in Sociology and Comparative Ethnic Studies from Washington State University, and I am certified in CPR/First Aid and trained in teen abuse prevention through the YMCA.
My career has centered on helping students succeed academically and personally. As Scholarship Manager for a local community college, I oversee districtwide scholarship programs, lead culturally relevant workshops, and advise students on applications and financial aid. Previously, as Program Director for a college readiness program through the YMCA of Greater Seattle, I advised more than 60 high school juniors and seniors each year through college and scholarship applications, achieving a 100% college acceptance rate. I also coordinated enrichment activities, family engagement events, and college tours, including civil rights education trips.
I have worked with students from middle school through college age, in both 1:1 settings and group workshops. I focus on building confidence, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, and tailoring strategies to each student’s strengths. Whether it’s essay writing, scholarship applications, or preparing for college entrance exams, I emphasize clear communication, organization, and culturally responsive support.
Parents and students can expect me to bring not only technical expertise in college prep but also compassion, encouragement, and a proven track record of helping students reach their goals. My passion lies in opening doors to higher education and ensuring every student feels prepared and empowered to take the next step in their academic journey.
