I’m Dan! I completed my PhD in 2019 at the University of Colorado Boulder with a 3.95 GPA. Since then, I’ve been a College Philosophy Professor, now settled in Seattle. I can tutor in person and online. My main teaching focus is on writing, where I have taught about three thousand students. My students voluntarily nominated me four teaching awards. Thirty-one of my papers have been published in selective peer-reviewed journals. I’ve been teaching for 14 years. My ‘turtle-style’ approach to writing is all about slowing down: once you see each step in your reading and writing, you find your own creativity and brilliance. My students have gone on to fantastic medical schools, grad schools, business schools, jobs, internships, and other areas.
Outside writing, I can help you with the GRE and chess. I tested in the 99th percentile on the GRE’s Analytic Section and 94th percentile on the Verbal Section. I am an expert-level chess player -- I have a 2065 United States Chess Federation rating from the year 2016, and am about 2200 playing-strength now.
I respond extremely quickly to students’ emails, and I adjust my approach to each student’s unique needs. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like any other info. I hope to hear from you!
