Hi, my name is Kai! I am a second-year MD/MPH student at Tufts University School of Medicine. Before matriculating and moving across the country, I completed my BS in Public Health at the University of Washington. This is just a fun side gig I do occasionally to help those in the same situation I was once in. I am a very down-to-earth and candid person and like to keep tutoring sessions as casual-style conversations to maintain a stress-free environment where it feels easy to approach me. As a bonus, I will understand any TikTok/reel references you make during our sessions. I specialize in Personal Statements, Essay Writing, and Intro Biostats/Epidemiology.

I have a proven track record in personal statement editing and both technical and narrative writing. I have published multiple research papers, received more than a dozen scholarships and several internship offers, and, of course, gained admission to medical school! During undergrad, I helped high school students craft compelling personal statements that gained them admission to their top-choice schools. More recently, I have mentored undergraduate students applying to medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy, and other graduate and professional programs.

I also have a strong background in biostatistics and epidemiology, having consistently excelled in related courses throughout undergrad and grad school. I am skilled at breaking down introductory concepts—including study design, measures of disease frequency, inferential statistics, bias, and confounding—in ways that are clear and approachable. Additionally, I have more than three years of experience applying these concepts in statistical software using R and Stata.
