Bio

I am an MIT alum and STEM graduate student with 8+ years of experience in tutoring both high school and college-level students in Math and Physics.

As an undergraduate, I was hired by the MIT Physics department as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the foundational Mechanics (8.01) and Electromagnetism (8.02) courses. As an undergraduate, I was hired by the MIT Physics department as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the foundational Mechanics (8.01) and Electromagnetism (8.02) courses. As part of the extensive coursework for my double major, I completed advanced classes in both Physics (e.g., Quantum Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics) and Math (e.g., Differential Equations, Probability and Statistics, etc.)--graduating with a perfect 5.0 GPA in all of my STEM courses at MIT. In high school, I received credit for over 20 APs (including AP Physics C) and a perfect score on the ACT.

In my graduate teaching career, I have helped hundreds of students through complex topics by developing my own practice problems and course content. I like to be upfront with my students that I wasn't always good at math (or physics!) and had to struggle a lot to get to where I am today. As a result, I have gotten very good at finding new ways to explain complex concepts so that they are easier to understand. I am excited to put that in practice as a tutor in whichever ways serve you--whether it's helping you with your homework problems, spending some time to break down a concept you're struggling with in class, or giving advice on how to approach college essays!

College Counseling

College Counseling

I believe that ALL students have genuinely interesting and meaningful experiences to share with the world--even if they don't yet realize it themselves! Through chatting with my students and learning about their unique stories and perspectives, I help them uncover their core values and build a compelling narrative around their background, interests, and aspirations for their college application essays. As an undergraduate at MIT, I worked part-time with the MIT Admissions Office and continued to volunteer as an alumni interviewer after graduating. I have personally mentored multiple high school students and helped them get into top programs such as Brown, Columbia, and Yale. I am also a recipient of the competitive NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and review personal statements, research statements, and provide counseling for students interested in applying to graduate school.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I received my Bachelor's degree in Physics from MIT and recently received my Master's degree in Earth Science. At MIT, I was a tutor and TA for the Physics department. In high school, I completed the AP sequences for Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. I love helping students develop an intuitive understanding (and appreciation for) math and physics that can carry over to multiple subjects!
Physics

Physics

As a TA and mentor for the MIT Physics department, I tutored students in the calculus-based Mechanics and Electromagnetism courses. I received credit for all three AP Physics exam in high school and can teach both algebra and calculus-based approaches. I generally love all things Mechanics (forces, momentum, energy laws, and fluids) but can do all subjects!
Proofreading

Proofreading

so patient and knowledgable!

I reached out to Lily with about five hours left before my Cornell supplemental deadline. I had pieced together an essay but I felt it lacked direction. I expected her to give me quick feedback, but instead, she digged deep into my soul for ideas hahahah. She didn’t just critique what I had written—she saw through the clutter to the core of what I was trying to say. Lily illuminated the potential in my scattered thoughts and helped me shape them into something more authentic. After meeting with her, I was able to write something ten times more true to myself in just 20 minutes than I had managed to write in the previous three hours. Lily tries to guide in the best direction and is very motivating! I am extremely happy that she helped me, she is an amazing writer and proofreader! And she is also very dedicated and will give you 100% of her time. She is the kindest!!

Lily is awesome!

I met with Lily for help with my personal statement. She is friendly and asked me good questions to help me reflect on my own journey and get to know me more. Her advice was clear and she was able to give me helpful feedback that didn't make me feel judged at all! Her pricing is very reasonable for all that she provides within an hour! Totally recommend her as a tutor :)

Highly recommended

Students feel comfortable sharing their experiences and thoughts with her. She listens carefully and is able to distill key insights and meaningful patterns from what others express. She is exceptionally perceptive and intellectually sharp, able to identify the qualities colleges value even in activities that may seem ordinary at first glance. She is highly efficient and productive. By sharing her own experiences and perspectives, she helps ease the anxiety that often comes with approaching deadlines. She possesses superior writing skills, strong logical thinking, and sharp judgment, which allow her to provide recommendations that are both precise and meaningful. We will definitely work with her again.

Great Admissions Interview Practice

Lily was great! I was preparing for my Yale Transfer Interview, and she provided thorough feedback and answered all of my questions. When it came time for my interview, I felt more relaxed and feel it went well. Thank you Lily! I would 10/10 recommend :)

Patient and helpful tutor

She was incredibly helpful in taking the time to carefully break down all the information and give me detailed feedback on my essay. Her critiques really pushed me to improve my writing, and because of her help, my essay turned out so much better than I could have done on my own.
