Whenever we meet, you can expect a comfortable learning environment that engages rigor and criticality without sacrificing encouragement, attentiveness, and warmth.
My AP Lang and Comp students consistently test above both the state and national average, with many students receiving college credit based on their scores. Additionally, I am an AP Reader for the CollegeBoard and am skilled in offering detailed feedback grounded in rubric language. I am more than confident in my ability to support the writing process for any essay and to improve multiple choice scores through targeted support.
I graduated with my Master's degree in Education from the UW after receiving my BA in English from the University of Nebraska! I have my certification in English Language Arts and ELL for grades 6-12; I currently teach over 130 AP Language and Composition students and run an award winning and nationally recognized Mock Trial program, coaching 3 different teams. I've worked in both middle and high schools and have tutored children, teens, college students, and adults respectively for over a decade.
I believe in centering the needs of my students; our sessions will always begin with identifying your needs and ideals, as well as what has been ineffective for you as a student in the past. I will do my best to align my goals and methods to your expressed needs so we can get you where you want to go! As an established teacher, I, of course, have many resources and scaffolds in my repertoire that I am happy to share as an additional support outside our sessions!
