Senior computer science student with a math minor tutors STEM

I've been an in-person math tutor in Seattle for the past three months, and I'm looking to expand my practice by reaching more students online. So far, I tutor multiplication to two elementary students, algebra and chemistry to two high schoolers, and pre-calc to a college student.

I spent summer 2021 as an IT instructor at a tech camp in Seattle for students aged 6 to 15. I delivered high-quality instruction for courses such as Robotics, 3D printing, digital art, and programming. During my time there, I often worked 1:1 with different students after the day was over, where I got to experiment with different ways to communicate how something works. In the end, I worked with a total of about 220 students. For 6 months in 2019-2020, I devoted my time to a passion project to bring the fun back into middle school chemistry! I organized and coordinated a weekly extracurricular chemistry club where students do the fun stuff they may not get to touch in the classroom. We experimented with creating elephant toothpaste, creating cold and hot packs using endothermic and exothermic reactions, and making test tube rainbows with pH indicators.

I have been the go-to person for my friends, siblings, and classmates for their math and coding problems for the past three years. I believe that to understand the how you must first understand the why so I focus on building a deep understanding of the problem before developing personalized strategies to help you solve this problem and future challenges. My role is to let you lead the way; our sessions are designed around your unique learning style to ensure effectiveness. I’ll match your learning pace to ensure you fully understand each concept, from big-picture ideas to the smallest details. No question is too basic—whether it’s a refresher on fractions or the fundamentals of algebra, we’ll tackle it together!
