I specialize in tutoring ACT/SAT test prep because all of the questions can be solved through step-by-step strategies. With enough practice and repetition, students can gain familiarity with those strategies and make significant improvements in their scores. I also have experience teaching math subjects up through Algebra 2, teaching/tutoring middle school and high school science courses, and working with students on their writing skills.

I am certified to teach math subjects up through Algebra in Washington and Ohio, and I have experience teaching 8th grade math and Algebra. I focus on helping students develop number sense and building their confidence with using variables. I also enjoy teaching Algebra in the context of real-life situations, so students can connect what they are learning to their experiences and see how it is relevant to their lives.

I am a certified middle school math teacher but I have also tutored high school level math courses for several years. The students I have tutored in Algebra 2 and Geometry this past year have improved their grades to A’s and B’s in just a few sessions.

I currently tutor a student in Geometry who has improved his Geometry grade by two letter grades since we started our sessions. I also frequently cover Geometry topics with students when I tutor them in SAT prep and I taught Geometry concepts when I was a full-time math teacher.

I love teaching science because it gives students the chance to observe phenomena for themselves and draw conclusions based on those observations. Hello! I learned Spanish living in Bolivia for over a year, and I love learning and teaching languages. I have also taken a course in linguistics and completed the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). While the focus of the CELTA was teaching English, I learned invaluable teaching strategies about how to teach languages in general. These include how to help learners understand the grammar and pronunciation of a new language and how to give language learners authentic practice speaking the new language in every lesson.
