Calculus

Calculus

Howard has extensive experience helping high school and college students with calculus as a private tutor and also a teaching assistant at UCLA for multivariable calculus and real analysis ("advanced calculus"). He obtained a masters and PhD in mathematics at UCLA, and writes a free newsletter for sharing helpful graphics with real analysis students.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

Howard specializes in undergraduate real analysis (e.g. MATH 131AB at UCLA). He TAed this course several times at UCLA. His focus is on showing how to reason through problems with pictures and how to write clear, well-structured proofs/solutions.

Knowledgable and Thorough Tutor

Howard helped me with Advanced Linear Algebra and Real Analysis this quarter. If you're taking a proof based class like those ones, he's your guy! He can type stuff up really quick on LaTex which is nice when you need to see a problem fully fleshed out. He's good at giving you the bigger picture and grouping problems so you can start to memorize the common structure of the proofs you see in class. If he can tutor classes as complex as the ones I had to do this quarter, I'm sure he'd be great at any subject! I'd encourage everyone to give him a shot. His rate is also much more affordable than many of the others on this platform.
