At the University of Massachusetts Amherst I majored in History and Social Thought & Political Economy. At Teachers College Columbia University I earned my M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I took Japanese classes at Harvard University and Okayama Japanese Center and passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Exam, level 2. I have experience teaching and tutoring ESL all ages, all skill levels. I have experience teaching and tutoring English, U.S. history, U.S. citizenship test preparation, and beginning and pre-intermediate Japanese.

My goal is to help students prepare for their future by teaching them how to fully apply strategies of successful learners. It is gratifying to hear my students tell me they like the subject they are studying more now. I am happy when my students get into the school or college of their choice or find employment where they can use the skills they have been working on.

I have been a teacher, proofreader and editor and have a deep understanding and love of English.
