My greatest accomplishment as a teacher is creating long lasting relationships that surpass the classroom and extend into real world opportunities. I have been voted Reading Teacher of the Year for Richmond Public Schools (2010). I have been dedicated to education in the classroom and also in my own home. In helping these students work with phonics, I have become proficient in using word study assessments which test the children to see what stage of reading they are in and then assign the appropriate word study lessons to improve reading ability. Additionally, I am perfecting the art of teaching sounds through the use of music since most children respond well to rhythms and repetition, which makes learning fun and interactive. Also, as that executive director, I speak at public events, at board meetings, and to potential donors. I host three different annual events in which I serve as the mistress of ceremony.
