As a current third-year PhD student in Biostatistics with a doctorate in Pharmacy, I bring a strong academic background and a deep love for teaching math and statistics. Over the past several years, I’ve worked extensively with students at different levels, helping them succeed in subjects like Algebra I, Algebra II, Calculus, and Differential Equations. Whether it’s foundational math or more advanced college-level material, I tailor each lesson to the student’s unique needs and learning style.
For two years, as a part of my PhD degree, I served as a Teaching Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where I led sessions in Mathematical Statistics and Graduate Research Methods. These courses required me to explain complex statistical concepts clearly and effectively to students from a wide variety of academic backgrounds. I’m especially experienced in teaching topics such as probability distributions, point and interval estimation, and hypothesis testing. I’ve also spent years working with statistical software like R and SAS, and I’m always happy to incorporate these tools into sessions if needed.
My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and focused on helping students build both confidence and true understanding. During my TA office hours, I often worked one-on-one with students, not just to solve problems, but to help them understand the “why” behind each step. I would review material in a more practical, relatable way to help make the concepts stick. I believe that math can be exciting and joyful when it’s taught right, and I love showing students how problem-solving can feel like working through a puzzle.
I’m passionate about helping each student grow at their own pace and reach their full potential. I’m open to using any preferred materials or resources, and I’m always responsive and easy to reach for questions or follow-up. I encourage you to book an introductory session so we can discuss your goals and make a plan that works best for you or your child.
