Knowledgeable, Enthusiastic, and Patient Tutor

For the past two months, I've had the wonderful pleasure of taking lessons with Junko-san. She is the best Japanese tutor that any learner can ask for. As a complete beginner in Japanese, the prospect of tackling the language was daunting, but through her efforts, time, and dedication, she helped me make astonishing progress within a short period of time. Her emphasis on proper grammar, her prioritization of correct pronunciation, and her keen eye for small mistakes and details all helped me lay a great foundation for future learning. To any one who wants to learn Japanese, I highly recommend Junko-san. Her passion for Japanese, her love of teaching, and her enthusiasm make lessons thoroughly rewarding, but above all, fun!

Great teacher - patient and to the point

My boyfriend and I are currently learning Japanese with her and our first lesson was great. Our goal is to be conversational-level and she immediately started shaping her lesson plan to fit our needs and was able to fit a lot into the first session. She is very straightforward on what to expect as well as her own expectations of us. Also, she only charges per lesson instead of per student, so that’s a plus! We look forward to continuing our lessons with her.

Three Years We've Enjoyed This Wonderful Tutor!

I feel badly it has taken this long to write an endorsement for Junko-sensei because she is an amazing tutor and an incredibly nice person. My daughter has always be a fan of Japanese Anime...dropping Japanese phrases around the house which was funny since I started my career 25 years ago in Tokyo (and retain some Japanese language skills). Three years ago Junko-san started coming to our house for an hour a week when my daughter was in 7th grade. She would spend 30 mins with my daughter on the basics, and then 30 mins with me helping brush-up on my skills. She was patient and unbelievably positive providing great encouragement while ensuring mastery of basic skills. For kids, a new language has to be FUN to get any traction and Junko-san is unerringly positive and encouraging with lots of laughter and giggling during lessons. Fast forward three years (!) and my daughter just finished her freshman year of High School. She initially very disappointed there was no opportunity to continue her Japanese studies but we found an online accredited course that was accepted by FCPS for language credit. So she had an independent study slot in her schedule and continued weekly lessons with Junko-san. Lessons have gotten more intense and evolved to match the online curriculum (I don't get any practice time anymore). But Junko-san has been such a great resource and supporter of our daughter's passion for Japanese language and culture. I don't think there is any way she would have achieved this level of skill or dedication without Junko-san.
