Hello! My name is Emma, and I am currently an undergraduate student at Clemson University, majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology. I plan on continuing with the Pre-Med track on my path to medical school.
My philosophy behind tutoring stems back to my desire for multiple perspectives on certain content as I believe there is no right teaching method. I desire to make learning something that can be enjoyable to those who may require new learning style that suit them. Through my knowledge and experience, I hope to bring excitement to young, bright students. I am here to provide additional guidance, give a different perspective on topics, and even support a study session. My lessons typically involve an active participation walkthrough of the desired content and then an individual practice session where I can assist if needed.
I have tutored high school students in Algebra (2 years), Chemistry (1 year), and Spanish (1 year) through my high school. I worked with students who needed additional help outside of the classroom who usually needed a different perspective or one-on-one learning environment. Additionally, I have worked in small groups to help review content for exams. Furthermore, I spent 3 summers as a teacher's assistant at an elementary summer school. I was able to work with a variety of students to improve reading, arithmetic, and social skills. This experience gave me more confidence in working with a younger audience including a handful of students with disabilities who may require diverse learning needs.
Overall, I am planning on tutoring middle school and high school math and science classes including: Algebra 1 & 2, Calculus 1 (AB) & 2 (BC), Chemistry, Biology, and other middle school sciences. I am also open to working with elementary school kids with reading, writing, spelling, and arithmetic skills.
I hope to support your education in any way I can. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or to schedule!
