I have extensive experience with students grades 6-12. During 15 years of teaching I have instructed 6th grade mathematics, 7th grade mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus (Trigonometry) and Calculus. In addition, I have helped hundreds of students improve their math SAT scores with my remediation techniques. I am a certified teacher of mathematics in the state of Virginia (grades 6-12) and presently pursuing a Master's in Education degree (concentration in mathematics) from George Mason University. Approved subjects

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. ACT Math

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach Precalculus, Algebra 2 and Algebra 1. My knowledge of the key concepts/skills necessary for success on the mathematics portion of the ACT is very thorough.

Algebra 1

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach Algebra 1 to 8th and 9th grade students (6 years total). My knowledge of the key algebraic concepts/skills necessary for success in this course is very thorough.

Algebra 2

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach Algebra 2 to high school juniors (4 years running). In addition, my experience and knowledge enables me to convey seemingly difficult concepts/skills in an efficient, easy-to-understand manner.

American History

During 10 years of teaching U.S. History I successfully conveyed my passion for the subject to my students. I am very familiar with the themes, figures and events which have shaped the history of the United States.

Calculus

During my undergraduate coursework I earned an A in both Calculus I & II. In addition, I have studied graduate level Analysis at George Mason University.

My prior experience as a successful student of Calculus and Calculus theory has prepared me to convey key concepts in a concise, clear manner.

Geometry

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). On my Praxis II mathematics exam I obtained a perfect score on the geometry/trigonometry strand of questions. My knowledge of the key concepts/skills necessary for success in this course is thorough. In addition, my experience and knowledge as a teacher of mathematics enables me to convey seemingly difficult concepts/skills in an efficient, easy-to-understand manner.

Linear Algebra

While completing my undergraduate coursework I earned an A in Linear Algebra. I am very familiar with the concepts and skills necessary to successfully complete a course in Linear Algebra. In addition, I have experience with the math theory behind key ideas such as linear systems, matrices, determinants and vectors.

Logic

As part of my graduate work I have completed two math courses designed to enhance my knowledge of math theory. While completing these courses (algebraic structures and analysis), I have become proficient at morphing logic and set theory to successfully form mathematical arguments. I am very confident I would be able to tutor high school students in the use of logic.

Prealgebra

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach Pre-Algebra to seventh grade students (6 years total). I also teach Algebra 1 & 2 to high school students. My knowledge of key algebraic concepts/skills necessary for success in this course is very thorough. In addition, my experience and knowledge enables me to convey seemingly difficult concepts/skills in an efficient, easy-to-understand manner.

Precalculus

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach precalculus to high school seniors (three years running). My knowledge of the key concepts/skills necessary for success in this course is very thorough. In addition, my experience and knowledge enables me to convey seemingly difficult concepts/skills in an efficient, easy-to-understand manner.

Probability

Probability is a fun and interesting math topic. I teach basic probability using fun references such as dice and playing cards. I am also able to challenge students with the use of the fundamental counting principle, permutations and combinations to solve complex probability situations.

My knowledge of probability density functions also engages higher level thinkers as they use integration and summation to solve very abstract probability problems.

SAT Math

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach precalculus, algebra 2 and algebra 1. My knowledge of the key concepts/skills necessary for success on the mathematics portion of the SAT is very thorough. In addition, my experience and knowledge enables me to convey seemingly difficult concepts/skills in an efficient, easy-to-understand manner.

SOL

I possess a current VA certification in mathematics (grades 6-12). I presently teach Precalculus, Algebra 2, Algebra 1 and Pre-Algebra (6 years total).
