I believe my academic background and extensive tutoring experience make me a strong fit for this position. I am currently pursuing a B.S. in Bioengineering on the pre-med track at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering, where I am also a member of the Frederick Honors College. My academic foundation includes a rigorous STEM curriculum in high school, where I completed advanced coursework in AP Chemistry, AP Biology (score: 5), AP Literature, and AP Calculus BC, among others.
In addition to my academic qualifications, I bring over five years of tutoring and teaching experience. I served as a teaching assistant for both Chemistry and English for two years in high school, where I supported classroom instruction and provided individualized help to students. Outside the classroom, I volunteered as a peer tutor for three years, working with students in middle and high school across a variety of subjects including math, biology, writing, and economics. These sessions ranged from one-on-one support to small group instruction, helping students prepare for tests, improve homework performance, and strengthen their foundational understanding.
I aim to meet students where they are by using a collaborative and concept-based teaching style, adjusting my approach based on the individual’s learning pace and goals. I also draw on my research background, including work in cancer biology and molecular techniques, to make complex scientific topics accessible and engaging.
My combined experiences as a high-achieving student, TA, and volunteer tutor—along with my dedication to clear communication and mentorship—equip me well to support learners across a range of subjects and age levels.
