Welcome to my profile! I have a Master's in biology from Texas State University and a Bachelor's in biology from Baylor University, both of which I completed with a 4.0 GPA. I have three years of experience teaching college-level laboratory courses for Functional Biology, Genetics, Earth Science, and Life Science. In addition to providing instruction in a group setting, I also gave students individual attention as needed, both during lab sessions and during office hours. I would listen to my students to figure out where they needed help and provide individualized explanations of concepts that they didn't understand. I always strove to build a positive rapport with my students and make the labs a positive experience for them. I want my students to enjoy science as much as I enjoy teaching it.
I have always been passionate about science, and I want to share my passion with others through my tutoring. To me, that means using unique tools such as subject matter-themed parody songs to make the learning experience as fun as possible. I believe this strategy will also help students to remember what they learn, in addition to wanting to continue learning. I know that many people find math and science intimidating, and I want to help demystify the concepts that people find difficult and show my students how much fun it can be. I feel particularly comfortable working with high school and college students. I look forward to hearing about how I can best help you!
