English and special education teacher passionate about helping students find systems that work well for them. Many students struggle with organization, responsiveness, asking questions, and self advocacy. I am happy to help you develop skills in these areas, in addition to helping you with your schoolwork. Most of my experience is with middle school, high school, and college students.

I am a certified English Language Arts and Reading teacher. I can assist with reading difficulty, reading comprehension, reading fluency, phonics for older learners, and developing a love of reading.
I can also assist struggling writers with idea development, organization, revising, and editing. I have extensive experience with writing at the college level, and am also a published author.

I am a certified special education teacher. I have experience working with students with ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, behavior challenges and mental health concerns. I specialize in helping students with their executive functioning needs - “the business of being a student” - getting organized, having routines, and navigating difficult situations at school.

For some people, going to school is like running a marathon each day. If you’re not conditioned for it, it can be exhausting and leave you feeling hurting and spent. Developing systems to help you navigate school each day can help you keep up, stay organized, and achieve your goals.

Fantastic

Made my daughter feel comfortable enough to open up about her strengths and weaknesses, developed an actionable plan in the first session to start making incremental improvements. I couldn’t be happier and I’m looking forward to seeing how much my daughter can grow over the next couple months heading into high school…

Helpful, Clear, Methodical

Sarah is working on Executive Functioning skills with our high-achieving son who also has ADHD Inattentive and some EF challenges. She has tackled our struggles head-on with helpful suggestions. She works with my son, who quickly grew comfortable with her. And she also provides some parenting coaching to help me guide my son more effectively. Sarah is compassionate and patient, and great support.

Organizational Help/Study Skills

Sarah has been working with my middle school daughter. Sarah is helping her learn strategies to become better organized. She’s teaching her how to prep, plan, and study for upcoming tests/assignments, etc. So far we are very happy with the results! Our daughter is initiating new assignments and managing current ones well. This was an area we rarely saw occur. We are excited for Sarah to help our daughter become a better student now, so high school won’t be so overwhelming. She’ll have a set of skills to carry with her!

College Admissions Advice

Sarah offered great advice and guidance for our daughter on college admissions. Prior to our last meeting, she tutored our daughter for the reading part of the SAT. The tools she provided were helpful and the score increased on the next attempt. Highly recommend.

She knows how to work with teens

Sarah and my child only had their first session last week but it went really well. Sarah seems to understand the struggles that high-schoolers are facing. I'm hoping that Sarah can help my 17-y-o with their executive functioning issues in order for them to get through senior year.
