Over the past four years, I have helped students with specific and general learning differences achieve their grades and test score goals.

I have a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University, and over 10 years of public school teaching experience. I have taught at the primary, secondary, and collegiate levels. I have a master's degree in psychology and special education from Texas A&M University in Commerce, and am working towards a PhD. in cognition and instruction. I enjoy working with students of all ability levels, and I work very hard to customize lessons to fit a student's educational abilities and needs. I also try to make learning engaging and fun, while still underscoring the need for hard work.

As an educational psychologist, I have completed many hours of advanced coursework, and I am well-versed in the current research regarding learning, memory, and instructional practices. I utilize this knowledge to identify underlying processing difficulties that may be interfering with learning, and to design a specialized strategy for achieving the desired results. In addition, I have a thorough understanding of effective study skills, organization, and test-taking skills.

Algebra 1

Algebra is probably the most important math course that a person ever takes. Why is this? Because all subsequent math courses build upon the basic skills and concepts of algebra. Having a good foundation is important. I have been helping students with algebra for many years, and it is one of my favorite things to teach. I have studied mathematics education at the University of Cincinnati and online at Western Governor's University. I have been a member of the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, and participated in national conferences. I am committed to helping my students see the beauty of mathematics, relating it to their everyday lives, and experiencing success.

Not just educational but developmental background

Cindy definitely knows what she’s doing and has a lot of resources on hand. Showed us some tools that we plan on working with in the future. Figures out what kind of learner (auditory, visual, tactile, etc.) your child is and uses that approach. Extremely patient and very knowledgeable in a multitude of subjects.

Knowledgeble & patient!

Cindy has been a consistent blessing for our ADD teen's math and organization needs. Recently, when I had to unexpectedly travel out of state on business, she was even kind enough to visit our teen at her grandmom's house so that our daughter could stay on track with scheduled assignments. Cindy is a treasure. We started utilizing her skills for Algebra and have continued on through Geometry. Thank you, Cindy!

Progress As Promised

Cindy is doing a good job in her creativity to keep our student interested and making it fun. Our student is very shy and finds it difficult talking to strangers. She is very smart and talented when she put her focus on something. She is having fun thanks to Cindy that it don't become a hard task with a bitter taste in her mouth that may last into the future.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Cindy is great! I love that she knows what PISD will expect my daughter to know going into 4th grade; and what concepts will be taught this year. She's very knowledgeable on the STAAR testing and we felt good going into it. She has been very patient with my daughter all summer. Trying many different ideas to engage her in math (not an easy task); and has hit on a few. She is one smart lady; I knew she had an upper level student she was tutoring in O Chem. She does it all!

Just Starting and Ready for the Next Lesson

So far, we really like Cindy!! We were very impressed with the fact that she did an assessment on our child prior to developing a plan! Others offered or wanted to offer a plan before assessing, which made us wonder. Additionally, we are very impressed with the learning environment she has for her students. It's very calming but packed with resources that can entice and engage the student. Today was our first lesson and Cindy took the time to talk one-on-one with our child to find out what she enjoyed doing, which in turn was used in class to complete her lesson. Our child loved it and is ready for the next class!!

Astounding Positive Results

Excellent tutor who continues to successfully assist my daughter in progressing in every subject she's previously struggled with! We're so very blessed to have found Cindy! Cindy has worked diligently (and yet is still very patient and soothing) with our 8 year old daughter, who struggled immensely this past 2nd grade school year. The progress I've seen in my daughter since starting tutoring lessons with Cindy to date is absolutely astounding! Although we have a ways to go, Cindy's assistance (specifically in math, reading, and comprehension) has been absolutely profound and I see the positive results in my daughter now!
