Hello! My name is Nicholas, and I am a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Finance while preparing for dental school. I currently work as a peer tutor and mentor at UT Austin’s Sanger Learning Center, where I have guided over 60 students-many of whom return for multiple sessions across semesters. My tutoring experience includes introductory biology, introductory chemistry, business statistics, and fundamentals of financial accounting. I have a 3.95 GPA, earned a score of 5 on AP Calculus AB, AP Environmental Science, AP United States Government and Politics, and AP Macroeconomics, and have received numerous scholarships and University Honors six times. I was also recognized with the New Member Excellence Award in the Texas Pre-Dental Society.
As part of the tutor training team, I have received extensive instruction in evidence-based tutoring methods, including strategies for active learning, student empowerment, and adaptive communication. My approach is collaborative and student-centered, rooted in patience and encouragement. I understand how challenging it can feel to be stuck or overwhelmed, so I focus on building confidence by identifying where students are struggling and using clear explanations, real-life analogies, and guided questions to deepen understanding. I tailor each session to the student’s learning style and encourage independence by allowing students to try problems on their own after we have worked through examples together.
If you are balancing multiple commitments or feeling overwhelmed by your coursework, I am here to help you succeed without judgment. I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, which helps me accommodate other students as well. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session; I would love to work with you and help you reach your goals!
