Hi, my name is Jonathan and I have been teaching middle school for over 7 years. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Math, and a minor in Economics. Soon after, I obtained a Master's degree in Middle School Education at Bank Street college in NYC. Working with middle school has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my career due to the energy and excitement students often bring. Since moving to Austin in 2012, I have had the good fortune of working on two wonderful middle schools; one public, and one private. The experiences have been quite different from one another, but at the end of the day, middle school students share more similarities than differences, regardless of their background. The most important learning I have acquired from my teaching experience is the desire students have to succeed and to learn. Students sometimes give up on math not because they don’t like it but, because they feel they can’t ever understand it. This is where I like to help them build confidence while they slowly acquire math fluency through working in a space of low stress.

I want to help students thrive in mathematics by helping them build resiliency and confidence. As a teacher, I'm always open to feedback from both students and parents.
