About Justin

I spent 5 years as an in-school math tutor for all high school level math subjects (Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus) as well as physics and have tutored at several different schools in Austin, typically with students considered "at risk" academically.

I attended the University of Texas at Austin and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Although I decided that I enjoyed teaching much more than engineering, that didn't stop me from getting my degree. In fact, my understanding of math and science would not have been nearly as thorough had I not finished my engineering coursework.

Although I am now fully devoted to private tutoring, my experience as an in-school tutor was invaluable as it afforded me many years of teaching experience with literally hundreds of students.

Thanks for your consideration!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

My daughter is learning a lot with Justin; he is teaching her Algebra 2. The school teacher covers the material very fast, and a mechanical and inflexible way. I hired Justin because I want her to learn that way that adapts to her learning style, with allowances to not understand, and permission to have things explained again. Justin is patient and speaks in a way that is easy to follow and unders
