Bio

Hi everyone! My name is Vraj, and I am majoring in History and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. When I was young, I never liked history, the lectures were uninteresting, and it seemed like it didn’t matter! However, this all changed when I had a fantastic teacher who brought history alive. Instead of giving a boring lecture about the battle of Vicksburg, he got the subject alive by giving us an epic recounting of a soldier trapped in the trenches fighting for his life and the Union....

Hi everyone! My name is Vraj, and I am majoring in History and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. When I was young, I never liked history, the lectures were uninteresting, and it seemed like it didn’t matter! However, this all changed when I had a fantastic teacher who brought history alive. Instead of giving a boring lecture about the battle of Vicksburg, he got the subject alive by giving us an epic recounting of a soldier trapped in the trenches fighting for his life and the Union. The extra effort my teacher put into his lessons made me love history as it brought the stories alive. When I teach my students, I like to add flair to my lessons and bring them alive because it allows students to relate and resonate with the lesson.

In addition to being a history enthusiast, I enjoy teaching all aspects of education. As a recent high school graduate, I know what students are going through, and I will constantly tailor lessons to their needs and circumstances. Throughout my time in school, I realized that the most crucial skill to succeed in school was not a regurgitation of the material. Instead, I recognized that the student must learn how to learn. They must go beyond simple memorization and understand the material at its core. This learning method helped me receive a 35 on my ACT, graduate third in my class, and attend a top 15 institution. When I am teaching, I know that I will always be able to give my students a perspective that goes beyond what students learn through a simple textbook or lecture.

Knowledgeable and accommodating

Vraj is tutoring my 16 yr old daughter for her ACT, she took it without studying and now will take it after private tutoring with Vraj. She has already increased her score on practice work he has given her. He explains how to strategize and time management for the ACT. So far we have really liked his tutoring and my daughter has felt more confident in her practice test taking that I’m sure will help her increase her ACT score.
