As someone who was once a procrastinator and always expected things to come to me instead of going after it, I am confident I can instill this ambition in any student as well.
I have experience tutoring high school Math for 2 years. I have also taken part in a program through a class which I took in college, allowing me to visit an elementary school to help the teacher with assignments. During the time that I would arrive there, the students were in their math class so I had the opportunity to walk around and answer any questions they may have had. My other forms of tutoring have not been through an organized system, but rather through offering help to my friends or family friends. Through this, I've developed an extensive amount of experience proofreading college essays, providing college application advice, as well as high school pre-medicine advice. My passion for helping others is not limited to school, but also in life! I care deeply about people wanting to do their best, so they can achieve all they have set their mind to.
My method encourages active learning. I prefer to reinforce the foundational skills, then gradually step back to challenge the student to develop that thinking on their own. Active engagement is necessary so they can enhance the specific neural impulses and patterns which come with learning. Learning is a rewarding process and should be treated as such. Unfortunately, academic pressure is apparent in schools, so it sucks the joy out of it. I want to cultivate an environment where the student falls in love with learning again. To encourage a curious mind which not only helps academically, but in life as well.
