My name is Madelaine and I am a Theatre major at Lee University. I have been tutoring my friends for about two years now in both history and math and have been editing their papers for much longer than that. I want to continue tutoring because I understand that sometimes classes that seem really daunting can actually be made a lot simpler when taught on a one-on-one level. I have a learning disability and test anxiety and spent a lot of my time in high school in the Learning Resource Center working on things with a tutor. I spent the majority of my life thinking I was dumb, but in all reality I just needed someone to sit down with me and explain the subject matter to me in a way that I could understand it.
I am a History buff and have always loved and understood history. I am one of those people who reads history books for fun and is always excited to learn about something else that has happened in history. However, I understand that not everyone feels this same vigor towards this subject and find it boring and hard to understand. I hope to help students who do not feel a passion towards this subject at least see the value of it and learn it.
I am also one of those people who get math. It's something that just kind of clicks for me, but I understand how incredibly confusing it can be if just one step is misunderstood. My hope in tutoring Math is to figure out not only how to help students in what they are currently struggling with but also go back to the foundational steps that they may have misunderstood so that I may help them build a better foundation on which they can learn.
I know how pricey tutoring can get and it is my hope that when I tutor your child it doesn't become a financial weight added onto your life. My rate is $20/hour, but it goes down to $10/every extra consecutive hour. Therefore, if I am tutoring your child for two hours in one night, the total cost will be $30. My family ended up spending $50-60/hour for tutors and it was a difficult price to pay. I hope to never cause this same issue in other families as I would hate for students to miss out on a tutor simply because of cost. Please contact me if financial problems arise with tutoring and we will work something out! My name is Madelaine and I am a Theatre major at Lee University. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When I took Algebra I was at the top of my class and it's not because I am a genius; it was because I was taught the easiest and best ways to do a problem. I have held onto these skills and know how to explain these skills or come up with new ones that work for you!
I grew up in a Christian home and have gone to church my entire life. I attended a Christian School K-12 and have been on a Bible Quizzing team and have studied the bible. I am getting a Minor in Bible at my University.
I swam competitively for seven years and was trained by Olympians like Alison Schmitt. I am best at breaststroke and Fly but can teach every stroke and teach you the techniques and drills I learned while I swam for UGA's junior division under the coaching of the head coach of UGA's swim team.
I am a Theatre Major and have done theatre my entire life. I was recently accepted in AMDA College and Conservatory.
