Flute Credentials: I was the only freshman student to get into the top band (wind ensemble) at WWSHS (Wheaton Warrenville South High School) within 5 years of a previous student. I participated in the Blue Lake Fine Arts camp and studied alongside other flute instructors for 2 years, one of those years receiving a scholarship for a full ride to the camp. Additionally, I participated in the Glen Ellyn Music Competition and received second place and auditioned and received a spot in the Wheaton Public Orchestra as one of only 3 flutists. I have studied and played the flute for 5+ years under Jill Burlingame and have an intermediate-advanced grasp on music composition. I love to see a students journey of improvement and help them along the way. Additionally, I can teach students the piccolo and have participated in my high school marching band for a year.
English Credentials: I can help students proofread their papers and go over basic grammar lessons. As a student writing at a college level, I believe I have a firm enough grasp to help other students in elementary school and middle school.
I have taken a Professional Communication class and an English Rhetoric class at USC that detail giving good presentations, public speaking, annotated bibliographies, and memos. In addition, I have taken AP English Language and Composition and received college credit for it through the AP exam. My previous AP English Language and Composition teacher was an English Major in undergrad and a retired lawyer so he graded our papers diligently with many critiques, strengthening my English skills which I believe can translate into improving my students' and your child's writing.
