About Greg

Hi, I'm Greg. I began teaching chemistry and biology at the secondary school level after graduation from The Citadel in 1974. Over the years I have taught various science courses including general science, physics, and organic chemistry. My students frequently come back after graduation to tell me they're convinced my teaching helped them to do well in these subjects on the college level, when many of their classmates were struggling. In 1991, I obtained a Master's in Chemistry from DePaul University in Chicago. I continued teaching high school chemistry for many years and am fully qualified to help students achieve their academic goals in this and many other science subjects.

My approach to tutoring is to engage the student in analytical thinking and assist them in learning to work through problems with confidence. I am willing to spend as much time as necessary to help the student prepare for tests and exams, as well as to be more comfortable with the everyday class experience.

I look forward to working with you or your child. I am dedicated to seeing all of my students accomplish excellent grades in chemistry and science.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I graduated from The Citadel in 1974 with a B.A. in chemistry. To complete this degree I successfully completed college algebra and calculus. During my teaching career I taught high school math classes which included Algebra I through Calculus. I have also successfully tutored and helped individual students for most of the last thirty years of teaching. I believe I have developed the personal skills to go with the subject knowledge to be a benefit to any student who needs secondary math help. I have a patient and steady approach to guiding students to learn.
